Excess stock buyers for Brisbane and Queensland
Coorey and Co buys excess, surplus and liquidation stock from Brisbane, the Gold Coast and across Queensland. We're based in Sydney and work with Queensland businesses by phone and email. Send a stock list and photos, and in most cases we'll make an offer for the whole parcel.
- 30+ years buying excess stock
- Confidential & discreet
- We can buy the whole parcel
Queensland businesses sell excess stock to us regularly, even though we're a Sydney business. Coorey and Co has been buying and selling excess stock for over 30 years. In most cases we buy the whole parcel ourselves and resell it through our own network of retailers, discount chains, wholesalers, distributors, charities and overseas buyers.
To be clear from the start: we don't have a Brisbane office. John Coorey works from Parramatta and buys from all over Australia by phone and email. For most parcels, a good stock list, photos and a phone call are all it takes.
Who buys excess stock in Brisbane?
Brisbane sellers can run a clearance sale, list online, go to auction, donate, or sell the parcel to a stock buyer. We're the right fit when you want cash for the whole parcel, without a public sale, and with a say in where the stock ends up. Our four guarantees:
- "We strictly follow your guidelines in relation to pricing and distribution locations."
- "We send payment promptly, as per our agreed terms."
- "We place a priority focus on clearing your stock."
- "We speedily and discreetly convert your stock into cash at the highest possible price, without damaging your market position."
If you're unsure whether to clear it yourself or sell it on, our guide to clearance vs liquidation sets out the difference.
What kinds of Queensland businesses sell us stock?
The stock we see from Queensland comes from much the same places as anywhere else, with a few local flavours:
- Importers and distributors around Brisbane holding stock after a cancelled order or a range that was ranged out.
- Food and beverage producers with overruns, packaging changes or short-dated product.
- Outdoor, leisure and summer-season suppliers. Swimwear, sun care, outdoor furniture, pool and camping products all depend on the season, and leftover stock is common when the season ends.
- Tourism and gift retailers on the Gold Coast and in holiday areas, clearing souvenir, licensed or gift lines that didn't sell through.
- Businesses that are closing or in administration. We work closely with administrators and liquidators.
Every now and again, consumer goods companies run into excess stock problems, often for reasons outside their control: cancelled orders, wrong packaging, a shift in market trends, a wet summer. It happens to well-run businesses.
How does selling stock to a Sydney buyer work from Queensland?
It's straightforward. Here's what happens.
- Email your stock list to john@coorey.com: SKU, description, quantity, cost or RRP if you're happy to share, best-before or expiry dates, and where the stock is.
- Send photos of the product, cartons and labels.
- Talk to John by phone. He'll ask why the stock is surplus, whether there are any channels or regions you want it kept out of, and how soon you need it gone.
- John discreetly surveys the market to find out what it's worth.
- In most cases, he makes an offer for the lot. If that isn't possible, he'll give you his best advice on how to sell it.
- Collection or delivery is agreed per parcel. We're happy to arrange collection, or you can deliver. Depending on the buyer, the stock may not need to come to Sydney at all.
- Payment is made promptly, as per our agreed terms.
Does it matter that the stock is in Queensland?
Mostly it doesn't. Location affects freight, and we discuss freight openly for every parcel, wherever the stock is. What matters more is the stock itself: the brand, the dates, the condition, the quantity and any restrictions you set. Our guide on how much your stock is worth explains the factors.
Timing matters too, especially for seasonal stock. Summer stock is easier to place before summer than after it. If you can see a surplus coming, call early.
What stock do you buy?
Most consumer goods. Over 30 years we've bought and sold food, soft drinks, confectionery, dried fruit, personal care, cosmetics, sunglasses, clothing, shoes and sandals, toys, licensed products, gym products, electrical products, batteries, insecticides, cleaning products and plenty of general merchandise. A few of the bigger jobs:
- 37 semi-trailers of short-dated orange juice.
- 27 semi-trailers of a discontinued paint product.
- 19 containers of washing powder, bought in New Zealand and sold to Singapore without meeting the buyer or the seller.
There's no minimum. John likes small parcels, because a small parcel sometimes leads to a big one. If something's wrong with the stock, such as damaged cartons, a labelling error or a short date, tell us up front. We're open with buyers about it, and we can often still find a home for it.
What if my business is closing or in administration?
Call early. Stock is easiest to sell while it's still in good condition, the dates have time left on them, and there's somewhere to collect it from. If a lease is ending, that deadline matters, so tell us. If an administrator or liquidator has been appointed, they will usually handle the sale, and we work with them directly. We can't give legal or insolvency advice, so if you're unsure where you stand, talk to your accountant or administrator first.

Frequently asked questions
Do you buy stock from the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast?
Yes. We buy from anywhere in Queensland, including the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and regional centres. Collection or delivery is worked out per parcel.
Do you have a Brisbane office?
No. We're based in Parramatta, Sydney, and buy from Queensland by phone and email. Most deals don't need a visit.
My stock is seasonal. How quickly do I need to act?
As early as you can. Seasonal stock loses buyers as the season passes, so sending the list while there's still time to sell through gives you the most options.
Does my stock have to be trucked to Sydney?
Not always. Depending on the buyer, stock may go somewhere other than Sydney. We agree how it moves when we agree the deal.
Can I sell you a mixed parcel of different products?
Yes. Send the whole list. Mixed parcels are common, and we'll tell you which lines we can buy and give you our best advice on the rest.
