Sell your pet supplies excess stock
We buy pet supplies excess stock: dated pet food and treats, cat litter, accessories, toys and grooming lines, from brands, importers, wholesalers and retailers. Send a stock list with best-before dates and photos and you'll hear back from John the same business day. In most cases we then offer for the whole parcel.
- 30+ years buying excess stock
- Reply the same business day
- Confidential & discreet
- We can buy the whole parcel
Pet supplies build up excess stock the same way any consumer category does: a product change, a retailer deranging a line, new packaging making the old stock look dated, a promotion that over-ordered. Pet food adds a clock, because it carries a best-before date. We've been buying excess and short-dated stock for over 30 years. We buy the parcel ourselves and resell it through our own buyers, without broker fees.
What pet supplies do you buy?
We buy across the category, in any quantity:
- Pet food: dry, wet and canned food for dogs, cats, birds and fish
- Treats and chews
- Cat litter, clay, silica, paper and natural types
- Accessories: collars, leads, harnesses, bowls, beds, carriers and toys
- Grooming and care: shampoos, brushes and cleaning products
- Aquarium lines: tanks, filters, pumps, gravel, decor and water treatments
- Bird and small-animal lines: seed, hay, cages, hutches, bedding and chews
- Health and seasonal lines: flea, tick and worming products, and summer and Christmas ranges
We buy from pet brands, importers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers and administrators and liquidators, anywhere in Australia, New Zealand and overseas.
How do I sell pet products stock to you?
- Send a stock list and photos. The details are below.
- Hear back the same business day. John replies with his first response and any questions.
- We survey the market discreetly to find out what the stock is worth now.
- We make an offer, in most cases for the whole parcel.
- We agree terms, including where the stock can be sold and how it moves. Collection is flexible: we arrange it or you deliver, agreed per parcel.
- You get paid promptly, as per our agreed terms.
If buying the whole parcel isn't possible, John will still give you his best advice on how to sell it.
What should I send?
- A stock list spreadsheet: SKU, description, quantity, pack size and carton or pallet configuration
- Best-before dates per line, and per batch if they differ
- Cost or RRP, if you're happy to share it
- Weights for food and litter: bag weight, bags per carton, cartons or bags per pallet
- Photos of the product, the outer cartons and the date coding
- Location, and whether it's palletised
- Your conditions, such as no sales into particular pet chains or regions
- Anything wrong, such as torn bags, crushed cartons or old packaging
Your own system export is fine.
How do you handle dated pet food and treats?
Like any short-dated stock: the earlier you call, the more buyers can take it. Pet food carries a best-before date, which is about quality, not safety in the way a use-by date is for human food. Even so, most buyers want reasonable time left to sell it through, so a parcel with months to run has far more options than one with weeks.
| Time left on best-before | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Plenty of time | Most buyer types, including retailers and wholesalers |
| Getting short | Discount channels and buyers who sell through quickly |
| Very short or past date | A narrow buyer list. Tell us exactly and we'll tell you straight |
Send the dates line by line. A parcel where some lines are short and others aren't is common and can usually be split sensibly. Our page for short-dated stock goes into more detail. We once sold 37 semi-trailers of short-dated orange juice, so dated stock at scale doesn't frighten us.
What about cat litter and other bulky stock?
Litter and big bags of dry food are heavy for their value, so freight matters more than in most categories. We discuss freight per parcel: where the stock is, who moves it, and whether it's better collected or delivered. Give us the bag weights and pallet configuration up front and we can be realistic quickly. Stock already on pallets near a main freight route is simpler, but that's never the only thing that decides it.
What makes pet supplies easier or harder to sell?
| Factor | Easier to sell | Harder to sell |
|---|---|---|
| Dates | Months left on best-before | Weeks left, or mixed dates |
| Brand | Known brands, if channels allow | Unknown brands with no retail history |
| Packaging | Current packaging, intact bags | Old artwork, torn or dusty bags |
| Labelling | Correct, readable labelling | Labelling errors or missing information |
| Weight vs value | Accessories, treats, grooming | Heavy litter far from buyers |
| Mix | A few clean lines | Hundreds of single units |
Accessories and toys carry no date, so they hold value longer. Seasonal lines, such as Christmas pet toys, sell best when offered well ahead of the season.
What about flea, tick and other seasonal pet stock?
Flea and tick products sell hardest in the warmer months, so offer surplus before the season, not after it. These products carry expiry dates and specific label information, so send the expiry per batch, the pack size and species or weight band, and photos of the full label. If packaging has changed or a product has been superseded, say so. We're open with buyers about it, and can often still find one.
How do aquarium, bird and small-animal lines sell?
These are smaller, specialist categories, so they move best as a sorted parcel. Group tanks and hardware separately from consumables like food, seed and water treatments, and give dates for anything dated. Glass tanks need careful packing and freight, so tell us sizes and how they're boxed.
How do you protect my pet brand?
Pet retail is concentrated, and a discounted parcel showing up in the wrong store can upset a ranging. We match your stock to buyers whose customers don't overlap with yours, and we follow your rules. Our four guarantees:
- "We strictly follow your guidelines in relation to pricing and distribution locations."
- "We send payment promptly, as per our agreed terms."
- "We place a priority focus on clearing your stock."
- "We speedily and discreetly convert your stock into cash at the highest possible price, without damaging your market position."
That can mean keeping stock out of named chains, selling only into certain regions, or exporting. Read more in our guide to protecting your brand when clearing stock.
What are the other options?
There's no single right answer. Here's how the options compare.
| Option | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Donate to shelters and rescue groups | Small amounts, dated food with time to use | Check what they can take and store. Talk to your accountant about the tax treatment |
| Online marketplaces | A few cartons | Your brand shown discounted in public, freight on heavy items |
| Staff or clearance sales | Accessories and toys | Slow for food and litter |
| Sell the lot to a stock buyer | Pallets or a warehouse, cash, channel control | A trade price, not a retail one |
Many businesses mix them: donate what's very short-dated and sell the rest as one parcel. See who buys excess stock in Australia for the full picture, and our general merchandise page if you also hold non-pet lines.

Frequently asked questions
Do you buy pet food close to its best-before date?
Yes, short-dated stock is a large part of what we do. Send the dates per line. The more time left, the more buyers can take it, so it pays to contact us early.
Do you buy pet food past its best-before date?
Tell us exactly what you have and the dates. Some buyers will consider it and some won't. We're open with buyers about dating and will tell you straight whether we can help.
Is cat litter too heavy to be worth selling?
Not necessarily, but freight is a real cost on heavy, bulky stock, so we discuss it per parcel. Tell us the bag weight, bags per pallet and where it is.
Will my pet brand show up discounted in the big pet chains?
Not if you tell us where it can't go. We strictly follow your guidelines on pricing and distribution locations, including specific retailers, regions or export only.
Do you buy damaged bags or torn cartons?
Sometimes. Send photos and say what's wrong. We can often still find a buyer, but we can't promise to buy every line.
Can I sell you a mixed pallet of pet accessories?
Yes. Mixed parcels are normal in this trade. A stock list with SKU, description and quantity is enough to start.
