Surplus stock and excess inventory of 6,980 leather iPhone covers

This surplus stock was 6,980 leather iPhone cases in six styles, brand new and previously retailing at $39.95 in a national phone retailer's stores. Phone accessories are very sellable, but only while the phone model is still widely in use.

This is a parcel of surplus stock we offered to our buyers: leather iPhone cases in brand-new condition. They had been selling through a national phone retailer's stores at $39.95.

What was in the parcel?

6,980 units in total:

Style Units
Black Big Snake Skin Leather Armor Case 1,150
Red Big Snake Skin Leather Armor Case 1,178
White Big Snake Skin Leather Armor Case 1,215
Black 3D Carbon Armor Case 1,100
Dark Brown Leather Armor Case 1,207
Pink 3D Carbon Armor Case 1,130

The cases wrap around the phone and flip open to the screen, leaving the camera, headphone socket, volume buttons and mute switch free to use.

Why does excess inventory of phone cases build up?

Accessories are ordered to match a phone launch. When the next model arrives, retailers switch their range, and any leftover cases for the old model become discontinued stock almost overnight.

What makes it sellable, and what makes it hard?

Brand-new condition, an even spread across six styles, and a known retail price all help. Cases are small and cheap to freight.

The hard part is the clock. Each case fits one model, and the market for it shrinks as people upgrade. A parcel that's easy to sell one month can be hard work six months later.

Who typically buys it?

  • Overseas buyers, where older models stay in use longer
  • Discount chains and variety stores
  • Wholesalers supplying market stalls and phone repair shops
  • Online sellers

    Frequently asked questions

Why do phone accessories need to be sold quickly?

Each case fits a specific model. As people upgrade, the market for that model's cases shrinks, so value drops with time.

Will clearing the cases undercut the retailer that sold them?

We strictly follow your guidelines in relation to pricing and distribution locations, and overseas buyers can take stock out of the local market entirely.

Do you buy electrical and tech accessories?

Yes. Electrical products are among the lines we've bought and sold.

What should I include on the stock list?

The phone model each case fits, style and colour, quantity per style, RRP if you're happy to share it, and photos.
